The evaluation framework for candidates of the King Salman Global Award for Disability Research

General Regulations

The award is granted to researchers, scientists, and institutions with outstanding scientific contributions in disability fields.

The scientific output must fall under one of the approved award categories.

All submitted works must adhere to recognized scientific research methodologies.

4

The work must demonstrate originality, innovation, and clear scientific impact.

5

The work must not have been submitted for another similar award.

6

Previous winners may reapply only after five years with new scientific work.

7

The award secretariat is not obligated to return submitted materials.

8

Employees of King Salman Center or award committee members are not eligible

Eligibility Requirements

Published Scientific Output

Availability of published scientific work in peer-reviewed outlets.

List of Scientific Studies

Submission of a list of scientific studies including:

Study Title Publishing Journal Impact Factor Journal Ranking (Q1 – Q4)

List of Books

A list of books (authorship – editing – translation).

Community Contributions

A list of professional or community contributions.

Analytical Essay

An analytical essay not exceeding 500 words.

Official Letter of Support

An official letter of support from an institution or a qualified colleague.

Evaluation Criteria

1 Criterion

First Criterion

Level of impact factor and ranking of the scientific outlets publishing the candidate’s research results.

25 Points
2 Criterion

Second Criterion

Degree of focus and scientific output in the field of disability according to the nominated category (scientific studies, books, patents).

20 Points
3 Criterion

Third Criterion

Professional contributions or community initiatives undertaken by the applicant that serve disability-related fields.

20 Points
4 Criterion

Fourth Criterion

Extent to which the scientific outcomes contribute to supporting the field of persons with disabilities at national and global levels.

15 Points
5 Criterion

Fifth Criterion

The candidate’s scientific standing in the field of disability based on the H-index.

20 Points
